Hey guys. Just to update you lot - I managed to do the mod this morning on my X800pro and enabled the extra 4 pipes.

Did a quick test and clocked it down to 525/545 and got a shade under 12k. Before the mod same clocks I got 11,400.

However this seems like the right thread to add it to.

A very good description of an X800Pro-XT mod;

<A HREF="http://www.pcunleash.com/bbs/zboard.php?id=MyItemReview&page=1&sn1=&divpage=1&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=26" target="_new">http://www.pcunleash.com/bbs/zboard.php?id=MyItemReview&page=1&sn1=&divpage=1&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=26</A>

Hope that helps others interested in doing the mod. Interesting that they think they have determined the part numbers that are modable and not.

SpeedUK, did your part numbers match one of the ones in the article?

Actually Speedy, the Mod didn't work and you seriously screwed up your X800 Pro. Send it to me and hopefully within a few months I will have it fixed. Then I'll test it for a few more months to make sure. Oh, and no need to thank me. I feel so bad for you that I'd be happy to help.

You ATI people make me laugh. It's not called a mod, it's called screwing you over. How can they have two products with vast price differences and the exact same features?

Oh yes sir, The Xt is much better than the Pro hence the price difference. Not really, how can Ati justify such a big price jump when there are no differences between the two cards?

HAHAHHAHAAHHA YOUR ALL GETTING SCREWED!!

At least nVidia only went for driver "Optimization" ATI have been lying to all of you. Yes sir those cards all run full trilinear filtering, and the still get better scores that those horrible nVidia cards. NOT!!

Anyway now that I have gotten that off my chest it's just a matter of time before Ati actually produces drivers that can compete on nVidia's level and then we will see who's got the best gpu on the market.

Oh no don't run off crying. Can't you put across your views in an orderly fashion instead of flaming and name calling?

I guess you have a while to go before your balls become dangly.

I must have misunderstood your previous post.
"Who asked you anyway?"

I did not see this as a precursor for a logical debate and therefore I stated that I would start a new thread

Look mate you come here with one intention and thats to spam and flame. This thread is on about a pro to XT mod and all you go on about is NV being superior to ATI.

I DONT GIVE A CRAP!

Go to the CPU's forum and pick on Intel for disabling cache on the Celeron. Or start a new thread that explains why the FX5200 is superior to the Ti4800 because it supports DX9.

Youre kidding right? Or maybe just ignorant...either way ATI doesnt produce these cards separately. All the pipes on the PRO versions didnt make the cut and were disabled by cutting a bridge on the upper left corner of the chip. When all 16 pipes function correctly they market the card as an XT. When some pipes dont pass all the tests they disable some and sell it as a PRO. SOMETIMES the pipes can be enabled with no adverse effects, sometimes not (like the 9800SE>9800PRO conversions).

Maybe next time you should do a little reading before you post and flame, it might help get that foot out of your mouth.

He probably wouldn't understand the technical side. You come up with cores that have minor defects, you can disable the defective parts or slow them down to a speed they work at. Or you can do both and bin those parts together. And then you run into the problem that you don't have enough parts with minor defects to fill that market segment, so you downbin some better parts.
