After typing text in "Word" I "Saved" before exiting. A dialogue box then
appeared that said that the disk was not formatted. On checking, all my
other disks now also say that they too need formatting. All these disks
before today were perfectly read and writable. I tried the solution from
Mark L Ferguson but typing "GPEDIT.MSC" won't let me in. What do I do to get
my text back?

it's not likely that all your floppies would die at once...
more than likely the problem is with the drive itself.

see if you can read the floppies on another machine...
if so...then they are ok
