IBM sued for 100 million Pesos
Philippines counter sued for $4.3 million (US?)

I wonder what the exchange rate is (Peso vs. US$)...or I would if I hadn't seen it in the other article: "The computer firm is demanding 205 million pesos (4.33 million US dollars) in damages and legal expenses."

You sue us we double dog sue you in return...Muhahhahahahah

From what i read from the local news sites, it seems that the IBM's software had problems with large amounts of data. The local company that was mentioned in the article was affiliated with IBM, so its the contractor (Questonix) and the software company (IBM), and questonix said before that the IBM software was buggy and that IBM wasnt doing anything to fix it

now questonix is saying that the cause of the crashes was due to not using the best database practices

Shouldnt the software manufacturer be liable if it's software was not working as intended?

Hey IronRyan, up yours buddy. They have more computer parts readily available in the Philippines than you can find any crappy computer store here in the States. I built 4 computers while I was there, without the hassle of ordering from some damn website and waiting for my parts to arrive. So don't be a smart ass when you obviously don't now anything about another country.

Apparently, the Philippines would lose this one.

The problem is simple and 100% the fault of GSIS (Philippines).

Rather than divide their database into smaller tablespaces they got lazy and put everything into one tablespace. So now they have a 2TB tablespace full of tables with 16K page size.

Nobody in their right minds would do this and it's 16 times bigger than the maximum allowed for DB2. Now the junior DBA that set this up can't admit he screwed up and so he's trying to blame IBM. Suggest the idiot DBa reads the spec of the database before blaming others.

We usually get our hardware on the same date as you guys on US soil, and in some cases we get ours earlier than you do. i7, Phenom 2, DDR3, all were available roughly 1 to 2 weeks after launch. We could usually get things here cheaper, sometimes even cheaper than newegg, amazon, etc.

@dougwhateva = troll

GSIS would surely lose this one, their top brass should have just kept their mouth shut. I've seen these government projects wherein usually they play the blame game, but few have ever gone public and usually they resolve the situation. Questronix should be the one blamed in this scenario (unless of course if the GSIS and Questronix's management are very good buddies or even relatives, which is usually the case).

@TonyGordon - If your sources are reliable then that's probably the cause for all this hoopla. Furthermore, what can anyone expect from a government office in the Philippines? These offices tend to be somewhat technologically backwards in most cases. And the people working in them are probably jaded from the monotony of their routine jobs and low-paying salary.

You might want to rethink your last statement. Besides, who made up this whole 1st first world, 2nd world, 3rd world country business anyway? Probably the ones who live in the first world. No need to be condescending.

There is nothing quite so likely to enrage people as an unflattering truth. I came to the P.I. almost 20 years ago. Alcoholism, cockfighting and karaoke vie for the national pastime. Most people are poor, uneducated and uneducatable. A small percentage are smart. Those are the ones that manage to come up in the world. The government is corrupt beyond belief. In that respect I believe it resembles the U.S. Our government is shit too. But honestly this country is a basket case.
Oh, and wayneepalmer you can take your pedo insinuation and stick it up your ass where it belongs. My gf is 19 and gorgeous. I'd take a bet she is better than any thing you have ever had. That's assuming you're not a pissed off man hating bull dyke as your post might suggest.

My wife is an ADULT Filipina who is my age and a lovely 47 years old, you child-molester.

You marry into a culture to get something you'd never get here for the exact reason most decent folks think so badly of Filipina's.

It is douche bag old perverted farts that go over there to molest girls like you that make things so much herder for the rest of us with Filipina wives over here.

I'm so darn sick of having to deal with hurt abused young girls in the Fil-Am community here who are married to some 50-year old who basically bought them as 18 or 19 year-old as sex-slaves / servants, who treat them and their families like garbage.

Your marriage is about your ego and your self-centeredness and not about her or any respect for who she is.

There are a lot of decent things about these people and their culture and personal virtues which you havent' even bothered to explore and they aren't your toys or your property. If you hate them so much, get out and leave them alone.

If I may paraphrase Saturday night live. "Wayneepalmer you ignorant slut." Last time I checked 19 is legal. I'm sure if you had your way it would be against the law to have sex with any woman that was under 40 and not fat. And by the way I never said I hated the people. I'm just frequently frustrated by the number of people here that don't know a damn thing. And so many of them have a hard luck story and an out stretched hand. That gets old quick. Please don't pretend you live here or know anything about the culture. And don't pretend you're a man with a middle age wife. My guess is you are some fat old cow that no one wants so you are pissed to high heaven that a man can come here and have something young and beautiful. I first came here about 20 years ago as a young man in the military. I decided to come back in my 40's. And my gf and I are quite happy together. Thank you very much. I hope that makes you sleep well tonight you sexually frustrated old cow.

No matter how you try to justify it you are a child predator. I have lived in the Philippines off and on for years and I am well aware that it would be easy to choose some child to be my sex-toy.
If you were under 30, not much would I say about what you are doing, but I have known far too many people like you who buy themselves a toy, treat her like crap and as property. People like you would feel comfortable keeping black people as slaves and having sex with the cute ones as well if you'd have lived in the pre-civil war era.
Its is what it always is - your own selfish ego, Kirk.
Any guy can do what you do. If he has no soul.
I have had to go thru a lot of pain with some of the women that old guys like you have brought back here and treated like crap.
A good woman is like a fine wine - better with age and maturity that matches your own. A best friend, someone one you can rely on, a partner, a lover - not a toy.
I sowed all my oats years ago and I finally figured out that having what I have now is far better than buying my self a sex-slave and living without a soul.
Someday Kirk, you will realize that life isn't just about you, your balls, or your ego either.
At your age though, I doubt if it will be in time to help you.
I doubt it.

Wayneepalmer you keep using the phrase child predator. Go look up the legal age in this country. It's the same as the states. So no matter how bad you want to paint me as a peodo it isn't so. My gf is not a prostitute. Which is one of the reasons that she is with me. I'm not going to pretend that I've never had a one night stand with a hooker before. The lifestyle of a sailor doesn't leave much room for long term relationships. Most men that are honest will tell you that they have been there at some time in their life. But I would never go with any girl that I thought looked under age. And now that I'm out of the Navy that part of my life is over. Now I have something I couldn't have before. A long term relationship with a sweet girl. I put a roof over her head. I feed and cloth her and I'm sending her to school to try to raise her quality of life. I think we are both lucky that we found each other. So don't pretend that you know something about me you loud mouth piece of shit.

Do you think she love you for what you are or only because your helping her, i bet you could not find a decent girl in your country and you preyed on poor people and throw insults that they were so dumb and indiot, your a user you know !!!

Cyberpunk. You have the typical whine of a looser. I don't think there is a man alive that needs to examine too closely why women want or love us. I have news for you pal. If you are living in a cardboard box you are not going to find anyone that gives a shit about you. I didn't make it that way. That's just the way the world works. A lot of men would love to be in my place. Instead they are working every day paying a 30 year mortgage by going to a job they hate and waiting for their fat wife to drop the "Big D" on them. Allowing a shit legal system to take everything they own. I guess you could say I'm lucky for the things in life I don't have. Almost without exception the foreign men here have the same attitude that I do. And we laugh at the people that don't have the guts to change their life for the better. Why don't you try coming here to have your eyes opened. Assuming you can afford a ticket.
