Acer aspire 5920G freezes after startup

Tags:

Hi, I have a problem with my Acer laptop. Last night I had forgotten it running on battery and winamp blasting on ful max, when the battery ran out of juice and the laptop shut itself down cold. Here comes the tricky part - When I restarted it under power, it booted up nicely, but after a couple of minutes everything freezes. I can stil move my mouse pointer, but the system doesn't respond("busy clock" mouse pointer). The only way to shut it down is by pressing the power button for 4s+. I checked for errors, ran chkdsk and safe mode and in safe mode it works. It showed no errors, but it still froze in normal mode. I got suspicious that the fan wasn't working, so I opened the panel and here it is - the fan starts up during bootup, but stops working after startup. I thought that maybe it's a function of laptop fans for saving battery energy, but it seems to me that the system gets a heatstroke.

Actually, after I opened it I got a message that windows couldn't start properly so system repair would try to solve it. After the obligatory couple of minutes it announced that if it boots up, then system repair has done its job. It did boot up, but then the same thing happened, fan stopped working and the first time I tried to do something(in this case open firefox), same thing, system not responding at all. Now the fan is dirty, but I don't have compressed air to try and clean it and it being sunday in Spain, there's nowhere I could buy it from.

One more thing. Is it possible to copy files to a usb flash drive in safe mode? I have videos that I need to be able to review and a couple of articles to read, but they are on my laptop and I have three days tops to do all that :fou:  . Thank you all in advance for the answers.
