PCI-EX vs AGP Benchie at TheTechReport

Well with the variety of different system setups and such there's been nothing to show any benifit/drawback from either AGP vs PCI-EX or Native vs Bridged.

The TechReport has an interesting Benchie with some results that show what we expected, but still haven't seen 'evidence of'.

Now this has little to do with performance increases in games, as we have seen that the impact of 4X versus 8X was somewhat limited as well, however it is proof of concept for both the increased 'potential' of PCI-EX over AGP, and even that of the Native PCI-EX solution over the Bridged solution.
It is faster AGP/PCI-EX than just AGP8x (based on something close to 16xAGP), but still not as fast as the native solution.

Anywhoo, interesting, but like I said, it won't make a lick of difference in gaming when the systems/cards can't take advanatage of the throughput. An X600 will never outperform a GF6800 except for in this type of test, in real games, there should be no contest.

Maybe not!
