Problems With Game Recording

Right, I'm trying to record game-play so that i can upload it to my YouTube channel, The problem is when i start to record i'm getting frame drops, This i though at first was just my general system performing badly because it was built to a smallish budget but at the time i was using FRAPS to record and if you are familiar with the software you will know that when you're recording it locks the game frame-rate with the frame-rate that is being recorded to the hard-drive. However when i started to use Dxtory this allows the game to be run at full Fps without being limited by the recording rate and i noticed i was getting full 60 fps while playing but the frames being recorded were around 20-30 fps and this of course results in a low quality video. What i wanted to ask is what is limiting the recording rate if it's not my Graphics card just dropping frames?

System Specs:
Intel I3 3.5Ghz
AMD 6850 Core Clock: 890Mhz Shader Clock: 1150Mhz
Asus Sabertooth Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 4Gb 1333Mhz (Won't scale up to 1600MHz for some reason?)
Powercool 650W PSU
Crucial M4 128gb (Not used to record too)
Hitachi 500g HDD Write: 95Mb/s (Drive used to record too)
AeroCool Strike Advance Case that provides sufficient cooling for the HDD

The Games that I have recorded on(All games i was getting full 60Fps while recording with Dxtory):
Crysis 2 720p Ultra Settings (Dx11 Pack installed)
Battlefield 3 1080p High settings
Arma II Day-z Mod 1080p high settings
Planetside 2 1080p Ultra settings
Cod4 1080p Ultra settings
Minecraft with Optifine Performance mod install

I would be extremely grateful If someone were able to identify the bottleneck so that i will be able to move off recording console game play on my channel to much superior PC quality.

I think I am having a similar problem. I think my bottleneck is due to the hdd. I take it you are trying to record at 60fps? If I record at 45 fps with fraps, there is no issues except the game feels a little bit laggy. As you said fraps locks the real time game play at 45 fps and thats a little low. If I now record at 60 fps the game doesn't feel laggy, the fps indicator indicates that I'm getting the full 60 fps but when I look at the footage its only around 10-20 fps (i.e. useless). Is this the same for you? I believe it is down the hdd now not being able to write that much data. Try dropping the fps to around 45 fps in Dxtory. The game shouldn't feel laggy and you won't really notice the lower fps in the video as much.
