I need to do a backup of my hard drive. I want to do an image of my hard drive just in case something happens.

Can someone suggest a program easy to use to do a hard drive image. I read somewhere that there are programs that don't need to boot o DOS first.

You can not get a true image while Windows is running. To get a good image your system needs to be in a stable state, which means that it has been properly shut down.

When Windows is critical system files are in a constant state of flux. Taking an image in such circumstances is like turning off your PC by killing the power.

There is a reason it is better for you to shutdown your PC rather than yank the cord out of the wall and the same principle's apply to DOS based vs Windows Based system backups!
