Upgrade to 9700 Pro

I have a radeon 9600 pro 128mb. It's OK but i'd like a bit of a performance boost. Not a huge jump but a nice noticable increase. I dont have the money for an X800 or a GF6800. The reason I am looking at the 9700 Pro is that I can buy one for $155. I can sell my 9600 Pro for about $100-110. That means for about 40-50 bucks I could do this upgrade. Do you think this is a worthwhile upgrade for the money it will cost. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appriciated.

if u can wait, maybe the new mainstream cards will fit u better. These mainstream card will probably be a little better than 9700pro and have better support and technology. U gotta admit it despite forceware and catalyst work on all cards these so called magic only happens on newer products

Personally it's not going to be a huge jump but if it's worth it to you for $40 bucks then do it.

The 9700Pro costs about $155. The 9800Pro is a bit over $200. Since the 9800Pro isnt a huge amount faster than the 9700Pro it doesnt seem worth spending $100 to upgrade to.

On another note anandtech just did a reveiw of some new GF6800 cards. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2113&p=4 The benchmarks start there. In almost all benchmarks the 9700 Pro has the best dollar to fps ratio. Its almost always the slowest, but I dont need to play at 1600x1200. 1024x768 or 1280x1024 are plenty high reolutions for me.
