For those of you following my botched gpu cleaning, i.e., scratching, I just got a brand new BBA 9700 Pro in the mail, priority overnight FedEx... life all of a sudden seems better. Best yet, today is actually my birthday...

Congrats on the replacement but it takes b@lls.

You mod, you overclock, you damage, you kick the crap out of the thing then you expect the vendor to replace it.

If it was my Sapphire, it would not have been replaced... I will think long and hard before I buy anything other than a BBA card again...

Did I read correctly that this ram runs at 350MHz?

What did you do for an HSF?

I ask, because, uhh, wanted to see whether or not you needed 'it' and if 'it' worked.

EDIT: Yeah that memory looks like the 2.86ns stuff wich is rated for 350mhz

yes, do a google search for that model number. its the same ram thats on my 9800pro , and i can overclock to 375mhz (need ramsinks to systain this speed tho, because it heats up and artifacts after a half hour or so)

Yeah I can do ~365 without sinks, and without artifacts (even for long periods), but I can only get short runs at 373 for like 30mins to 1 hr.

I've heard too many bad stories about sinks on R9600Ps to want to risk it, especially after some people's experiences after trying to remove them.

yea,... and with BGA ram, sinks often inhibit proper cooling beacuse the pins are what cool that typemostly, and its trasfered to te pcb (compared to tsop, from what i read)

Yes, I used your heasink/fan... I played with the yellow goo for a while, heated it up, flattened it out, removed all the pubic hairs, etc... thanks... I will get a replacement mailed out soon...

With this ram, 360/360 seems reasaonable...

ScHweEet!

No worries about a replacement. If it costs you more than $2US total to send anything to me, then don't worry about it, consider it a Robanukah gift, in an effort to keep up Int'l relations with our crazy cousins to the south.

360mhz on a 9700pro is a nice overclock!

you should check what core you have, because it might be a R350.. if thast true, then 400mhz out of the core is definately possible and THAT also would be a sCHwEeT overclock

Ya, my hands are shaking as I gently caress it... I will take care... but I was kind of thinking they might be out of 9700s and mail me a 9800 instead...

I still have yet to plug it in... I almost want to replace the heatsink before it heats up and melts... unless they are truly tested and the compound has melted already...

and having a 5-week-old child, and just moving last week, makes it hard to do any serious computer work...

I am running my 9500np modded at 306/360 with cheap ramsinks and a crystal orb... I thought a 360 core overclock was more the norm with proper cooling... I also have a 120mm fan blowing in from the side of my case...

I, too, would love to read R350 when I take the heatsink off...
