Can anyone tell me where I can pre-order/buy a HIS X800 XT PE Iceq2 in the US. What are other good alternatives with the same chipset and where can I get those if not the above. Is this the platinum edition http://www.ecost.com/ecost/ecsplash/shop/detail.asp?dpno=434568

Why are there diff kind of boxes for the XT edition if XT means the same as PE. PC Connection shows a box with Platinum Edition on it. Best buy shows XT but no platinum edition. According to ATI there is a pro ver and a XT PE. Where does the XT only fit in. Driving me nuts.

i have seen 6800 ultra extreme (6850) benchmarks. X800 XT PE is better than even that. Takes less power, and will have better Half life 2 gamepplay.

See Anandtech for the latest benchmark.

I've one on Pre-Order from Gateway for about $434.00. They say it'll ship on the 27th of July. I'll believe when I see it. I think NewEgg is just starting to get some XT's in. They even got some X800 Pro's but they sell out of the XT's immediately. So if you check there and they got some you better jump on it. I'll wait till after the new PCI bus comes out and perhaps the prices will be lower and availability better.

OH, my bad. You said BEATS the XT. Ummmm. Let's see.. AH, Check Entiums home page for some completely unbiased 640x480 Quake 3 benchies. He won't have the actual scores or settings posted, but he'll give you some math on how much better the GT is. My guess an easy 30+% now with 61.45 drivers and probably 60% when the 62.xx drivers come out.

Just Kidding, the GT is a very nice card, as is the XTpe.

you have two links now.
<A HREF="http://reviews.cnet.com/ATI_Radeon_X800_XT_Platinum_Edition/4505-3025_7-30871661.html" target="_new"> Cnet </A> also shows X800 to be on top of things.

In anycase...you are right 6800 beats XT PE but only in games where there is no AA/no AF and maybe in a few unpopular non DX9 games. Now if you want to play Farcry/HL2 with those features and spend $500 on a card then I cannot say anything. As long as X800 XT remains on top of 6800 in HALO/FARCRY/UNREAL it will be the same with HL2. I dont care abt other games.
