I have a HP Compaq computer that is suplied with an XP Pro SP2 CD. Some of
the Software I need to run will only run under SP1. Is there any way of
rolling back SP2 from this installation? (that is SP2 was not installed
later, but is part of the CD).

If you have an OEM CD that is SP1 lying around and it happens to not be
"locked" to any specific machine (by a mechanism on the CD) and it will
accept the CD Key on the sticker that is likely on the machine in question
in place of its own - technically there is nothing stopping you from
installing that OEM version instead of the one that came with the PC.. But
there is no way to "roll-back" an integrated CD - once it is integrates into
the CD, that new CD is SP2-ified with no going back.

Mark;
No, there is no way for you to go back to SP-1 with what you have.
If it is that important, search for and buy a Windows XP pre SP-2.
Better...contact the software manufacturers to update their products.
If you have that problem, other users must also, what are others in similar
situations as you doing?

There is no way to go back to SP 1 from an installation of SP2 if it was
integrated with the Windows XP installation disk short of doing a clean
install and installing XP using a non-SP2 version of XP
