Can you use a windows vista recovery disc on a windows xp laptop?

can you use a windows vista recovery disc on a windows xp? i've tried everything on my mom's xp laptop to no avial. both laptops are gateway. help!!!!

The vista vs. xp is not a big deal. BUT, each recovery disc is usually made for only ONE specific model of laptop/computer. If you try it, you'll find out whether it works or not.

Best to get a copy of the recovery disc specific for that laptop model, or just a reinstall from a windows disc.

No i don't think you can, But you can do a install with a windows vista OS on a laptop with xp... Sorry kiddo. Maybe someone else can help
