Hard drive head park beep

IBM X40 laptop (Hard drive pre-installed = Hitachi Travelstar C4K40), Windows
XP SP2.
Software = office 2003 and Norton Internet Security 2005 only.
Machine 6 months old.
Recently developed problem where out of 'standby' the hard drive beeps once
each time the heads are parked each. Doesn't happen on cold start, only once
put into and then resumed from 'standby'. Sound from drive itself so not
controlled by speaker volume, therefore can't be turned off. The machine has
been back twice, new system board, new hard drive with clean install, hence
low number of applications. Complete diagnostic check all OK using IBM
pre-installed utility. With hardware changed I can only turn to the
software, hence this question.
