This is on my 3rd lan computer, and I just moved my Ti4200 to this 3rd computer after an upgrade... this XFX Ti4200 has served me well for close to two years, but it now keeps freezing in the new computer... I know it must be unhappy being pulled out of an NF7-S, but this ruins my plans for an improved 3rd gaming computer... I moved my old GF2 MX400 back in, and it is stable again...

The motherboard is a Matsonic ms8308 with a Palimeno 1900+ 1.6 GHz cpu and 512MB of pc133 ram...

I updated the agp chipset, rinstalled directx9.0b, used several different drivers, both 4303 and 5303...

This seemed to come to a head after I installed the xp security patches from the last few months... but I did that so soon after installing thew new card that I will never know...

it freezes a lot and sometimes the monitor just goes blank like from a power down with the computer still runnung... I was also getting directplay error messages when running directx...

but with the GF2 back in, it has now been runnung for hours...

When you tried the different drivers did you scrub out the old ones?

Even nV to nV has been known to cause problems. Detonator RIP might help you.

Just a thought, otherwise Dunno!

Yes, I ended up trying drivercleaner just to check on that... this board used to be a friends before he gave it to me for building him a new system, and it had problems with a 2400+ cpu in it, where the 1900+ ran great... the Ti4200 could just be too much... Although he had an ATI 9100 working just fine... I need to talk someone on this forum into mailing me an old ECS K7S5A board so I can use the 168-pin PC133 ram... I need some board that will run the Palomino, uses 168-pin ram, and has at least a 4x agp slot... this matsonic board does all of that, but... Ahhhhhhhhhhh... Power is always an answer, but i have had no problems with this Allied 400W psu yet...

This may seem dumb, but I wonder if underclocking the card would help... lowering the gpu to 200 or something...

It could be a failing motherboard, Matsonic is bottom of the heap, so problems like capacitor failures should be very common.

OK, but then would the GF2 be working because it uses less power, creates less heat, etc, or what?

Less power and probably more tolerance for voltage fluctuation.

My friend was using an ATI 9100 on this board... the GF4 Ti4200 must be more taxing... same ram, same cpu,
