I've had this card for a year and 4-5 months and all of a sudden yesterday it started being weird - while playing C&C Generals suddenly the textures disappeared and a second later the PC crashed completely. Never had this problem before and have been playing the game for months. When I restarted and win (win xp pro) loaded, in a minute it crashed again and when I restarted it messed up the OS choice menu and crashed... I turned it off for some time. Later in the evening I played C&C again for two hours and not a glitch. I had forgotten about that when today I got the precise same crash. I'm getting scared. The card isn't overclocked. Are there any utilities that can check if everything is OK with it? What should I do if the problem persists?...

I remember reading alot of people had sudden problems with Gainward Ti4200's after about a year of trouble free use. I thought is was their original 4X releases.

I have a Gainward Ti4200 in one of my computers. I had to RMA the card due to the pink checkerbox problem. It died after the 1 year warranty and they fixed it from free(I paid 1 way shipping). The problem was cheap capacitors. It looked like they just replaced 2 capacitors and sent my card back to me.

It's an Albatron GeForce4 Ti4280TD "Medusa" 8x 128MB. Fan is working fine, along with several additional fans in the case and air conditioning are keeping quite cold. I simply have no idea why all of a sudden I get this problem...

you might ask "Dr Pro" over at the Albatron site.
any recent software installed / try un-install ?
ck for spyware / virus ?
if all else fails , the card has a 3 yr labor warranty
your cost would only be for the repl part only

Is there any possibility you've added some components lately and have put a strain on the powersupply?
If it's a 250 watt'r you could be in compromise...
Also, I have a Ti4600. I had clocked it up and back a few times and ran into driver instability issues.
I downloaded a choice graphic driver and my problem miraculously disappeared.
