I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card, and I have three in mind. Can anyone help me in deciding? (Based on my PC setup, weather is it worth it getting the new ones?)

1) ATi R9800PRO (Sapphire)
2) ATi X800Pro (Built by ATi)
3) nVidia 6800 GT (Brand not confrimed as singapore hasn't got any place that sells it...)

Oh ya, my motherboard is AGP 4x.

Thanks guys, any comments will be appreciated. =E

What is your budget? 9800 Pro 1/2 the price and half the performance of the X800. Looking at your system the X800 seems like overkill unless you are thinking of upgrading it in the future. Really your 9600 Pro is well matched to your system. I'm not sure the money couldn't be better spent on an Athlon 64 and new mother board.

Don't know much about the GT but I hear the 6800 GT should fall in between the 9800 Pro and X800, probably just a little closer to the X800 in both price and performnce. Most of these are 128 Mb versions. Right now 128 Mb is fine.

Hmm... Ok, i agree that the X800 series & nV 6800 series seems to be overkill... My budget is around Sing dollars $400 (around USD$150 +/-)

Any other opinions from other people?

Save up some more money and buy a new mobo, processor and ram. 384 mb of ddr 266 wont get you to far today. Do you just plan on gaming?

DDR-266 is perfectly fine, it's not the fastest out there, but it's good enough. It's not the RAM speed that matters as much as the fact that you just need more of it. You really want at least 512Mb of RAM to pair with a high-end video card. Second of all, although it's significantly faster than your current card, I wouldn't recommend buying the 9800 Pro only because it's not a big enough jump in performance over your 9600 Pro to justify spending $200 (unless of course you can sell your 9600 for a decent price). AGP 4X may inhibit the performance a bit on the X800 and 6800, but you'll have to look into that one yourself.

Gothitbycar: Yup I am planning on gaming, and I am considering on a new PC right now, maybe a AMD AXP 3200+ (cheaper than a P4) or a P4 3.0GHz C (if i can afford it).

Sweatlaserxp : I personally prefer the 6800 GT, but in this case after much thought, A new PC will do me fine IF a get a new GFX card after my new PC. =E

Coyote : I am sorry I got mixed up by so much pricing browsing these few days, yeah the SGD$400 budget only applies to the R9800 cards. Not the new ones. (A Leadtek 6800 non-ultra non-GT is about SGD$670+/-) And yeah, IF I can get the last two cards at the price, I arrange for a business partnership. hee..

Thanks guys for all your help =)
