I was going under the impression that matrox was it for a three monitor setup, but guess that is just for 3D games, for I have read some posts on other forums of people getting 3 monitors set up with no problem using two video cards, like an agp 7500 running two monitors and a pci 7500 runnning the third monitor... this would not be for gaming, just MS Word, really, for my mother's history of the world / timeline project that spans three pages, so she has three seperate word documents, and she wants to view them at the same time as she works... is this doable... she has an agp 7500... would my CL 4MB pci card do the job for a third monitor or what?

If this works, and I get her something like a PCI 9100, could that be set as the primary display, i.e., for games when I visit, but then have the agp 7500 still working with dual display?

You would likely be able to do the triple monitor with the CL card, (but I'm not sure about that). You wouldn't be able to control it through Hydravision, so you would need another monitor support program.

As for the 9100PCI, yes that two would be similar and you could make it the primary and the AGP secondary, however expect a littl more hassle than vice versa, but I have done that before. Any AIW functions though (should you decide to get an AIW PCI card) would be lost in such a configuration.

I will probably go with a pci 7000 or 7500, whatever I can find, and then get a capture card of some sort... I will have to do some more research about what capture card to get, however...

Like I said I would recommend Hauppauge or Pinnacle. ATI TVWonder is good, but may have issues with XP if it's an older model.

Also like I said you may need thrid party software to enable triple monitor support I think UltraMon or Multi-Res, is a freeware program that will do it.

I just realized that I currently have what my mother needs in terms of two video cards to get her three monitor displays... I have a Ti4200 that is not in use after an upgrade because it causes my cheap Matsonic motherboard [currently in my 3rd LAN computer] to become unstable, and I have a PCI GF2 MX400 that is sitting in a 700MHz e-machine that I will likely never use...

I was thinking ATI because she currently has a 7500... but I could go Nvidia, although the Ti4200 would be wasted some on her computer, but it would play games when I am over there...

And my Matsonic motherboard worked fine with an ATI 9100, so moving her ATI 7500 should work there, too... and an ATI 7500 should out perform a GF2 MX400 that is currently on that computer, correct...

So, how well does Nvidia work for a three monitor setup? Making this move, I do not have to buy a new motherboard for my 3rd computer to get it to work with my Ti4200, searching for a K7S5A, and she does not have to buy a PCI video card...
