Hi Community,
I'm looking to buy a laptop for gaming (Battlefield 3, MW3, etc.) and I came across the HP Envy 15. I thought the computer was too expensive, but I came across a coupon that gives me 30% off. Could you guys tell me if this is a good deal?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

8GB 1600DDR3MHz System Memory (2 Dimm)
750G 7200 rpm Hybrid Hard Drive
$40 OFF Microsoft(R) Office Home and Student 2010
FREE 2-year Norton Internet Security subscription (a $99 value). Pre-installed.
8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery - Up to 10.25 hours of battery life +++
15.6-inch diagonal Radiance Full HD Infinity LED-backlit Display (1920 x 1080)
SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
720p HD video streaming webcam supports Skype
Intel 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R) with Wireless Display Support
Full-size Radiance backlit keyboard
Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Elements 10 & Adobe Premiere(R) Elements 10

The subtotal without the coupon comes out to be $1783.99, but with the coupon, it is $1248.79.

Well, actually if you're interested in a smaller form factor (also thinner), cooler design, and longer battery life - this is a better deal than the one by msi. I do agree, however, that in raw computing performance - the msi one is marginally a better deal. I assume that the cost would dip under $1190.00 if you weren't also buying microsoft office home and student 2010.

Thanks for the replies! Actually, I'm using this for school so a 17 inch wouldn't work. I really like the beats audio + subwoofers on the envy. How much better is the 660m than the 7750m?

The beats audio is a gimmick. The DV6 models have beats audio, and reportedly have worse audio quality than many other notebooks that don't have particular audio branding.

And yes, you can easily find a faster GPU within your budget.

- These models come with the 1920x1080 display. There are other models that come instead with a 1366x768 display, but those models are not recommended unless you need the larger text. 1366x768 resolution in a 15.6" display makes things onscreen large, and 15.6" displays that have this resolution tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast.
