[Chaintech]FX5700Ultra 128M DDR2 TV-o, DV-i, AGP8x retail - $250(canadian)

[eVGA]FX5700Ultra-128M : DDR AGP8x CinFX2.0 nView, IntelliSample HCT UltraShadow - $225.00(canadian)

The Chaintech one is a DDR2 but the eVGA one is just a DDR. Not sure if there's a huge diff or not. Any help would be great.

The GDDR3 models were quicker than the DDR2 ones. But in this case, not sure offhand. But more importantly, are you considering buying either? Don't rush into it as in general an FX5700U isn't worth buying. Hows it compare in price to what you can buy a FX5900XT(better card)? Are you dead set on NVidia? What are your system specs? What games do you want to play? If it's just a want to know hypothetical question, sorry can't help ya.

ABIT IS7, P4 2.6C, 1GB Corsair XMS 4000 Pro Series, Radeon 9800 Pro, Santa Cruz, TruePower 430watt

The FX5900XT is way more expensive then the 5700U, its about $360(can). Thats way over my budget for a video card. I need a card between the $200-250(can) range. FX5700U isnt the only card i was considering. It was rather between the 5700U or the ati 9600XT. There pretty much the same in price and performance i think. But i thought maybe the nvidia would be a better choice. Im not a hardcore gamer, i just want a good enough card to play the latest games like Doom 3 and HL2. But, i mainly use the computer doing 3d modeling/animation and stuff like that. Im not sure what kind of videocard i would need to get the best performance out of these 3d softwares(3ds max). Would an ATI be better or Nvidia?

Also that first post i made, i was just wondering what a DDR2 is compared to a DDR.

R9600XT is better than the FX5700U (w/ any of the three flavours of DDR).

Here's 2 review from [H] with the 3 cards in question;

and this review of the impact of GDDR3 on the FX5700U vs FX5700U should help you see the limited impact it has;
