Best memory config for asus P5Q Deluxe

Hello,
I have an ASUS P5Q Deluxe MB and would like to know what is the best size memory to use to get the best from this board. I am not a gamer but like my computer to run fast. I beleive DDR 2 1200 is my best option. Is this correct and where would I buy it please. Also what size and quantity works best.Is it best to get 4 x 4gb to total 16gb or is this a waste of money? Unless you're doing particularly intensive video editing or image manipulation 16GB is complete overkill. I rarely come close to using 4GB of mine. What will you use this PC for, and what CPU do you have?
