My 6800GT stock speed benchmark

Well I rec'd my eVGA 6800GT today and just finished my first 3DMark03 benchmark. Click <A HREF="http://service.futuremark.com/servlet/Index?pageid=/orb/projectdetails&projectType=10&projectId=2855025" target="_new">here</A> for my results with no overclock. Of course I have the free version of 3Dmark03 and it will not let me adjust the settings. I will be posting more benchmarks very soon.

  3. I'm looking at the 6800 GT. The shop where I buy most of my gear has the eVGA card for $399.00 US. Do you know anything about the quality and reliability of the eVGA cards. Never heard of them before.

The BFG 6800 GT OC is also very attractive $399 too. Frys was sold out. Said they would have more on Saturday. I've heard good things about BFG. The guarenteed OC however small is nice too.

  4. I'll try to fix the link. As for BFG they are a good company but I didn't want to go with a stock oc card due to the fact the oc'd cards may have an adverse affect while playind Doom 3. This is the first time I have bought from eVGA. The card was shipped on 7/23 and I got it on 7/29 just as they said I would. I also have heard good things about them.

  5. Ok I hope this <A HREF="http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2855025" target="_new">link</A> works. Disregard the compared system....the numbers are exactly the same and i can't figure out why.

  6. The first one you posted is for YOU, the second one you posted is the 'published' link for everyone to look at. Always post the 'published' link, under the benchie.

Good results, too bad they have the approved driver note/issue/stuff. IF those are 61.77 aren't they the WHQL drivers?

  7. I was looking @ the 6800GT and it does look promising with the ability to OC to 6800U speeds - yet I was wondering if anyone knows of a compatible 3rd party cooling solution for this card that would assist in the OC... I mean to get the 6800U with 1 molex for a good deal less $ - it might be the card for me.
  8. Not sure if they were WHQL drivers or not. I did get a message saying that they were not digitally signed by MS or something like that.

Layne, I don't know of any 3rd party cooling solutions but I gotta say that this card is kick ass. The eVGA card also comes with a full version of Far Cry. That is a nice $40 bonus.

  9. Well the driver number looks like the 61.77. So just go to nV's site and grab their latest version, the 61.77, and that should make the message go away I would think.

Obviously the ones you have are the beta versions without the certification, the ones on nV's site shouldn't give you those messages/warnings.

  10. Hey, I pre-ordered mine yesterday. Will ship out on Monday. Evga they are the nvidia reference cards i think. Nice looking scores. I will post mine when i get my card so we can compare. Unless im playing doom 3. what psu do you have?
  11. I did get the drivers from nvidia's website. Not sure why they would still give the same message. Oh well, they are working perfect so I guess no worries.

Rumcooler you will love the card. I have an Antec 430w True Power PSU which is about 1 1/2 yrs old now. I haven't experienced any problems with power consumption. The needed power was another reason I stayed away from the Ultra.

  12. I dont see how a slight OC by BFG (350-370mhz core) could screw up dooom3 :(

  14. Well we'll see, I think that my R9600P overclocks well enough to test this theory. Considering that the Battle of the Proxycon is the point it crashed in 3Dmk03 when it's pushed too TOO hard, I'm not surprised that D3 stresses games more than other games if it's similar in resource pounding.

When I pick up my copy of D3 I'll see how it runs at 500/350. I doubt it's overclocking that's the problem persay, but as someone else here said, it's likely that an overclocked card that works well on everything else you play may be over-stressed in this game, and you may have to lower your OC a bit to reach a new stability point.

  15. I don't seem to have any oc features with this driver. I've seen on numerous benchmarks an oc feature built right into the drivers. Do I need to get a seperate oc program?

    <font color=blue>One day ass hair will be sexy.</font color=blue>
  16. Actually the nV program is 'hidden' from people they don't think are ready to experiment they figure if you can't find it, you shouldn't use it. It's called <A HREF="http://oc3dmark.octeams.com/tip02.html" target="_new">CoolBits</A>, and you can try the added hack <A HREF="http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=29541" target="_new">CoolBits2</A>

    Or try <A HREF="http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/" target="_new">Rivatuner</A> , or <A HREF="http://entechtaiwan.net/util/ps.shtm" target="_new">The original 3D tweak tool, PowereStrip</A> ; (<A HREF="http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/powerstrip.html" target="_new"><font color=green>Good , if 'overexcited' description of PS</font color=green></A>)
