I just bought a new video card (e-Geforce FX 5700LE) and for some reason my performance in half life counter-strike isnt as good as i was expecting (drops to 30-50 fps around people or gunfire with v-sync off). I have a P4 1.79 Ghz cpu and 512mb ram. After i installed the card into my machine, i went to nvidia.com and downloaded the most recent video drivers. I know the problem isnt being caused by half-life's 60fps cap with vsync on so i at least know that is not the route problem. does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do from here? any help would be greatly appreciated,
thanks in advance, chris pate

I bet you used to have an ATI card, no?

If you dont clean every last bit of the competing drivers off your system youll see problems like you have here. If its not too big of a deal, I would format and reinstall windows. I do that every few months anyway.
