Some time ago, I'm sure I read on THG that for some reason XP was locked to 60hertz when in games mode.
- Is that still the case?
- If so, is it now excepted as better?
- If so, Why?

I would presume the highter rate would be easier on the eyes.

It doesn't seem to be the case anymore with the SP1, but I am not sure. Use the newest drivers from either manufacturer and you will get the RR lock feature. Or use a program that does that, though I forget the name of the one I used previously.

It isn't better in ANY WAY you perceive it. 60Hertz HURTZ!

Higher RRs make it easier on the eyes indeed and no one should suffer on 60Hz.

Windows will lock fullscreen apps to 60hz other than desktop. You can overide this from your driver settings. ATI drivers use refresh override.
