Hello..I was just about to buy my self 6800 GT for £270 pounds. However I have seen connect3D 800XT PE for £312. The problem is im a bit of an nvidia fanboy, had ever generation of there cards except the GF 3. Cant make my mind up which one to get and I dont what to make the same mistake i made last year when I got a gainward 5900 ult for £475 only to find the 9800 was the way to go :(
Please help me break my nvidia adiction.

See benchmarks and decide yourself. Try doom3 beches, farcry and others in this forum, on THG, anandtech etc.
Nvidia has an upperhand now and can continue to lead until ATI come up with a solution to better their drivers and stuff.
Also if you see this forum you can see talk of the new Geforce 6600 with SLI. THG has done benchmarks for that w.r.t Doom3. They do outperform X800XT. I am a ATI fan so am sticking to it, but nvidia is now coming up with beter stuff.
Its a toss n turn game, sometimes Nvidia are better for games, sometimes ATI.
You can chat about the latest SLI stuff on the THG irc, see link above on the page.

I was running on an nVidia and I switched to ATI. Best choice I ever made for my computer.

I know the new ones are not on the list, but I used http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031229/index.html to help me decide.

So I thank THG for helping me decide.

Ive seen plently of benchmarks from toms and many other places. My main worry is that the ATI will be obsolite very quickly. However I cant help but think that im missing out on some fps by buying the 6800 GT when I can get a 800XT PE( even if it is connect3D ) for a little extra. The 6800 Ult is not an option at £370+.

The x800xt is a brute; it rules. That being said, I thought the 6800gt was a bargain at $100 less. Plus, you get SM 3.0. Now, I doubt that SM 3.0 is as big of a deal as NVidia claims, but it's nice knowing it's there if I ever get a game that needs it. Plus, the 6800 GT is better than the x800 pro in most benchies, so at the $400 price point, it's the better deal.

I agree the 6800 GT is a better deal, but i could have a x800XT for the price 6800GT plus a night out.
As for the x800 pro, from what ive seen i think its going to suffer compaired to the other cards in the newer games due to the cut down pipelines, so i aint touching it..
