I have an msi fx5700le256 graphics card and was wondering what I could do to make it perform as fast as possible. I was playing halo and noticed that the game lags extremely bad when there are multiple characters on the screen at once. I have heard of bios updates for video cards and the like but do not know how or where to get them or if it would even help. I guess I thought I was getting a pretty decent card but maybe got ripped off? I dont know- if there is anything I can do to enhance the performance of this card please let me know. Can this card even handle all of the latest games at high res-- I have this card on an amd 2800+ 1 gig pc3200. Any help would be appreciated.

Not really, the LE version of the 5700 just wont play halo that well. (even the ultra version has a bit of a hard time at places)

I have heard of people overclocking these boards with some success, up to 250/400.

"Who is General Failure, and why is he reading my drive?"
P4 3.0C HT, Intel D865GBF, 512MB Crucial PC3200 DDR, 2x WD 36GB Raptor 10kRPM, BBA Radeon 9800PRO, SB Audigy, Hauppage WinTV

You biggest problem is going to be resoulution, the 5700 card really just isn't capable of playing brand new games at high resolutions. Halo should not be to bad, but what resolution are you playing in?

There are several things you can try, every board and card, setup is completely different, so it will take lots of tweaking. You can overclock your card mildly and won't have any problems.

You are going to need a copy of PCMark, AquaMark3, 3dMark (01 SE is probably best). Do your tweaking and then run all three, this will do two things, first tell you if the system is relatively stable, and if there was a performance gain or not. This can take several hours, so be patient.

I found wierd differences, like with my TI-4600, I got the best scores with AGP bus set to 70mhz, while my 6800 does better with it set to normal (66).

Just play around with it, you'll probably notice the biggest jump in frame rates by increasing the core clock on the video card.

Just expeirement, a mild overclocking should help things.
