chkdsk got cancelled

hey, i cant seem to be able to run chckdsk, it always states that the scan
disk is cancelled and windows has finished scanning disk. i tried going to
the command promt and all and typing in the chkdsk c: /R and c:/F, but it
doesnt settle the problem...the program still gets
cancelled...anyone...please help....

Screen saver or other app is locking the drive.
