Well my dad just bought a BFG 6800 GT OC and it idles at around 60C and under load can get up to 90-100C!! He bought this becuase it was supposed to have better cooling. His case has good air flow and high temps havent been a problem in the past.He took of the stock cooler and put some AS5 on it but that didn't make much difference.I told him to not worry and if it dies they will just send u a new one.Oh and he doesnt have it overclocked.Any one know if this is a common thing?

Oh and <A HREF="http://www.bfgtech.com/6800GTOC.html" target="_new">here</A> is a picture so you can see the cooler it has on it

These modern cards get pretty damn hot. They should really have whacking great big coolers on like CPUs do, as they're putting out the same amounts of heat really, but card manus are reluctant to release a product that blocks off 4 PCI slots  ... I guess if it doesn't crash, then don't worry about it, but you have to wonder how long they'll last at these sorts of temps (even a 9800Pro gets above 70C. My card is the hottest thing (by touch) inside my rig by far)

It's the same with me, I have a PNY Gforce 6800GT and it's about 65C idle and around 82C under heavy load. I even drilled a hole in my case and stuck another 80mm fan to blow directly onto the card's fan, still doesn't help, but the card is rock steady and never caused a crash yet.
