Doom 3 problem (ati video card)

Hi, I just got Doom 3 from best buy few days ago. So forgive me for being late.

My computer is 2500+(oc to 2800+), FSB at 166, 1G ram, ati 9800 pro(oc to 400/351), my monitor is a LCD from ViewSonic Max refresh rate at 1024x768 and 800x600 is 75.

I run the Doom 3 in medium quality at 800x600 resolution with everything on in advance menu except AA.

I run the timedemo 10 times, and the best I got is 34 fps???

I tried to disable the vsync but it has no effect on the performance.

I thought that is normal until I read the Doom 3 result post.

People are getting 40-45 fps minium with the same rig.

I just want to know if there is a way to work around.

P.S. I use cat 4.7 and Rage3DTweak 3.9c to oc

There are several adjustments people are making to ATI cards to run Doom3 better.

Turning shadows off as well as VSync helps a lot also.Try benching without those two.
It's so dark most of the time you wont notice anyway.I know i dont..Good luck

You have anti aliasing on.

Also, with that rig there's no reason you should have to run at 800x600 medium detail. Those numbers you saw (40-50 fps) were at 1024x768 high detail! I have a 9800 Pro with an XT bios (which is at 412/365... stock XT speeds) and an xp mobile at 2475 mhz (but the CPU speed dosn't really affect this game much) and get like 45ish and thats with 8x aniso.

Go into your advanced graphics card setting then into OpenGL settings, set it for custom, and turn every thing to high performance and everything else to off.
Then go download the latest Catylists, new ones targeted especially at OpenGL were just released.
