Tron Translight Repair / Replace

Hey All:

Need advice on two things.

First of all, I have a tron Translight (as I have heard it called) -
The MCP Cone background and mine has the common crack in the middle of
the mcp. If I have to, I will live with it but can anyone recommend
any repair techniques or ways to keep it from cracking any further?

On the same subject, this seems a common problem. I am wondering why
no one has tried to do a reproduction one. Actually, let me take that
back, I did find one site that did them, ordered it, and it turned out
to be a glorified laminated piece of poster board. You can imagine how
well that looked. Amazingly enough, they offer a refund if you are not
satisfied. We'll see how that goes. Is there anyone out there selling
them? Seems like it could be done with acetate and some sort of
printing process.

Thoughts?

Just paid $45 for a nice one on eBay. Guiness is right, they do come
up on eBay once every couple months. That's your best bet.

While I would buy one, I don't think that would be a high demand item....a
handful of those translites come up every year on ebay and they don't sell
very high (~$25 ). You're best bet is wait patiently for one in good shape
if you plan on keeping it.

I'd happily pay $50 for a quality repro of the Tron MCP translite
artwork piece. I've been meaning to email Darin at Phoenix and
suggest it. He's done such nice work on his other Tron repro art. I
have a Tron awaiting restoration, and the translite that was in it was
so badly cracked that it's essentially in two pieces.

Mediocre-quality used ones (usually cracked) come up on ebay
occasionally, but really nice condition ones are much rarer. (I tried
to get a recent one, but was outbid at the last second.)

I figure that, if people are buying repro Tron cpo's, spinner decals,
sideart, bezel art, and inner cabinet art, they'd buy this too.
Honestly though, I have no idea what it would cost someone to create
a repro of this piece or how difficult it would be.

I'd also love to see a quality repro solution for the faded artwork on
the two front plexi pieces (curved piece over the blacklight and piece
below the control panel).

The problem with these is that in most cases, they were stapled in one
or two places...over time they ended up cracked from maintenance.

I've got an extra thats in pretty nice shape. It does have the staple
point, but was removed carfully, so it looks pretty nice. It even has
the metal top bracket that holds it in.

Make me an offer if someone is interested. I'll have to look for a
decent sized box as this needs to be shipped flat.
Thanks,
Dan
