Just looking for any inside info the community gurus may have about Nvidia's next generation GPU. The successor or bump up from 6800Ultra.

It's weird, but I haven't heard anything or read anything so far about it. Quite an obscure thing honestly. Even the ATi side is being secretive about it.

I'm thinking the only thing known so far might be 512MB cards.

No they won't. They will probably be around $500 at release.

around $1200, they say, for the starting price of 512mb cards. I'll try to find the article i read it from. $2000, maybe, for the very high end.
But, they are working on them, thats a plus.

Whatever it is, it will hit the shelves 1 year after the big-houpla paper launch.

From my understanding NV48 is their next expected high end card after NV40/45. Will it just be small jump and named GF6900U(6950,6960, 6969), or will it be bigger with a new name? Given the good name/performance of the 6800's I'm guessing it will be a 6900 series. Anyway, NV50 supporting DX10 (next) is anticipated for after that.

Of course, maybe it depends on ATI. What will R480 be like? Or will they just skip to R500 and try to pull a 9700Pro like jump on NV?

I love to speculate and think about it, but the fact that the GF6800U and X800XTpe STILL aren't easy to find, makes me lose alot of excitement about the next generation.

come on man, that cant be true...

1200/2000 for a card ?? bull [-peep-] !

adding 256 MB of DDR3 memmory cant increase the cost by 500-1000. I can get chips for way cheaper than that.

Anywho, here is the aticle The FireGL V5100 will cost all of $799/€639 in retail channels

and

NVIDIA recommends a price of $899/€719 for this card, which is a good $100 more than ATI's FireGL V5100.

and

With a recommended price of $1799/€1439, 256 MB are of course standard.

Scroll down in the article to read about the new ATI and Nvidia cards to come, even 512mb

hey man...those are quadros...firegls....

where are the desktop ones...

u never mentioned 3D professional cards...

u just said high end...i assumed u were talking of the desktop...

these will of course be expensive...

and as for the chips...u can smuggle them at cheap prices...but not here...abroad...like HK, Taiwan. Personally I have seen in Indonasia, when i was there on a trip last yr.

Oh, byw, let me know when you go back to Indo.
And , did you happen to get a chip there and how much.
Just curious

Yes I know. And I'd like to mention to you that it was a bit on my part to answer him seriously knowing he was kidding so as to even further lessen the hilarity of the unfunny comedic attempt on his part.

Yea I know I'm a d asterisk ck. :)
