Recently myself and a friend got together for a LAN session, and I noticed something that concerns me a great deal..
The difference in the colour displayed by an ATI card vs an nVidia card.
I run an FX6800GT and my colours are clear and crisp, white = white, blues = blues, lighting effects look great etc etc..
The thing I noticed was my friends machine with an ATI 9800 Pro, his colours are all washed out looking and when lighting effects are used it even changes the colours completely, ie.. White = Creamy, Reds = Brown, Blue = Purple, different shades of the same colour actualy merge together and look like One colour all over.
We tried swapping our monitors over, and it made no difference at all.. My FX was crips on his monitor, his ATI was off colour on mine.
Tried about 10 different driver versions on his ATI, different BIOS's and still nothing helped the washed out look.
We took screenshots of a game on both machines, at the same spot in the game, transfered them to the other machines and on my FX they both looked crisp and clear, on the ATI they were crap looking.. This tells me the ATI is rendering the colours correctly, but displaying them wrong.
Has anyone else come across this problem, or is this a One off thing ??
