I would treat a Windows 8 computer with this problem like I would a Windows 7 computer. First of all why did it crash? I would run memtest86 for at least three passes to test the memory. You can try running start up recovery or you can run CHKDSK /f from the command prompt also it may be a good idea to run SFC /scannow. If this does not work do a system restore to a time this did work. You can do all of this from the installation disk by selecting repair and then advanced.
