I hear and now know for a fact that cable is an internet service that will stay online for 95% of the time. Yes cable i found out does shut down for some unknown reason. Im running XP Professional and it does some weirdo things ill be using to chat client software and it will disconnect and not reconnect displaying the un able to connect logo. I actualy watched this happen once and i dont know if any one else uses this kind of a cable modem but here's nothing anyway hehe. Im on a surfboard brand cable modem it has 5 lights on it. 4 green lights and a little orange light that flashes activity. Well it will all go black then each light will come on individualy in a row its wierd. Then it will not connect until i reboot my computer.

That is not at all an issue with all cable providers. Maybe your service cuts out every once in a while, or your modem reboots for some reason. My computers have been online for 24 hours a day for the last 4 months, since my last cable outage.
