New RivaTuner and 6800

Well I downloaded the new versioin of RivaTuner, and have just now gotten a chance to mess around with it, in hopes of unlocking the last 4 pipelines in my eVGA 6800.

Well I went through all the menus and don't see anything anywhere on how to change the pipelines?

I figure either my card's pipelines are locked by hardware, or I am overlooking the section where you can adjust pipelines.

I figure its a hardware thing and my card just isn't capable of it, but can anyone verfiy?

Well I figured it out, and verified. My eVGA 6800's pipes are locked by the hardware.

So nothing I can do with RivaTuner to change this.

Wonder if anyone will come up with some sort of mod to help with this? I seem to remember reading that there were some cards (wasn't about 6800s) that you could activate the extra pipelines with some creative soldering?

Oh well, there is always the trade-up program from eVGA, may go that route.

Yeah, that was the x800pros. A guy that used to post often on these boards, speeduk, was able to unlock the 4 pipes with alittle soldering, some volt moding, and the xt bios flash.

Watch out for the <b><font color=red>bloody</font color=red></b> Fanboys!

Addicted, finally.

Wonder if anything like that would be possible with a 6800.

That would take some guts to start soldering on a x800pro.

I am just curious to see if this would be a possibility. Figure the trade-up program may be a safer route, or just wait a couple of generations of cards come out. Figure I can stick it out.

I read the trade-up program only works if you buy the card from Tiger Direct. Bastards

<font color=blue>This guy here is <i><b>dead!</b></i></font color=blue>
<font color=red>Cross him <i><b>off</b></i> then.

That really sucks, I never read the details about it. They really get you with the fine print. I think if more people knew this they wouldn't be talking about it so much.

Oh well, I think I can stick it out with my 6800 for a while longer (joking)! Figure I should at least be able to skip one generation of cards.

Well I posted Unwinder's initial findings here a while back. His initial focus seemed to be on identifying and unlocking the extra vertex shaders first (different number from card to card). Supposedly this lead him to the possibility that cards that were software disabled quads may be able to be activated as well. Not much word on success so far.
