I've searched the newsgroups and the Internet for an answer to this one,
but no luck on hitting it right on the (hyperspace) button. Anyway...
here goes...
I installed a Bob Roberts cap kit in my Asteroids WG 19V2000. I also
replaced the 4 deflection transistors. Reason being, my previous
monitor symptom was that half the screen was blank and the picture would
come and go. Anyway, I figured after installing the caps and
transistors, the vectors would be tight, but not THIS tight. All the
objects on the screen are tiny! About 1/2 their original size. I
couldn't believe it.
So, I double checked all the capacitor values I installed. All were
exactly the same, with the exception of one new cap having a higher
voltage (no problem there) and C500-C503 being a different uF. Instead
of .47uF, these 4 caps were replaced with 1uF. So, I changed those caps
back... still the same problem... all objects are about 1/2 their size.
I figured the shakiness would be due to the voltage in the HV unit.
But, I only replaced a few caps in there, and they were all the exact
same values. I tried adjusting the HV, but all the objects kept on
shakin'.
Before I did the cap kit (and changed the 4 deflection transistors,
re-soldered the connectors on the deflection board, and made sure I
didn't create any shorts on the connectors) the objects were the right
size. Even though I had half the screen blank.
Any ideas of where I should check next? Thanks all...
