Hello, suddenly my win7 64 bit laptop with 4GB ram has become incredibly slow for no apparent reason. It started when the Norton Internet Security 2010 failed for no known reason, then Norton tried to re-install and now it is so slow, it is unbelievable!

sadly norton is power hungry and will slow down your computer....

I recommend to get antivir instead : free and efficient

Can you reactivate it?

If not it might of been target of a virus

download and install and update

spybot serch and destroy
super antispyware
malawarebytes

to see if they detect something (might want to scan in windows safe mode if real slow in normal mode)

good luck

Hello psmfoo,
Possibly a virus or spyware slowing your PC?

You can place spybot and free AVG on a USB drive, additionally, you can run a complete scan with NAV (Norton Anti-Virus) Boot Disk: This will check everything BEFORE booting to windows.

You will need a reliable source computer to work from since your main computer seems to be comprimised.

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and support.
