I am replacing a few capacitors on a sound board and have a few stupid
questions.
1. The manual states, for example, 100mdf @ 25v is to be used.
The board actually has 100uf @ 16v in place. They look original, but not
sure.
I believe the mdf is for microfared. the uf is for ??
are they the same? The caps I bought are all uf.
2. Several of the caps i picked up have an arrow with a - sign on
it(axial). The caps on the board have a + on the arrow. Do
I have the wrong caps, or do I line up the arrow the same, or put the
cap in opposite of the direction it was on the board?
3. A large cap 2200 mdf @25v is quite a bit smaller than the cap on the
board. Are they just smaller now then they were 25 years ago?
This is my first attempt at cap replacement, so these question should
help me out.

uf and mdf are the same
the - on the cap shows the negative lead of the cap,
if the pcb shows a + then dont put the negative of the cap in the + side...
pretty easy to figure out.
They are way smaller then they used to be.
you can substitute a 25v for a 16volt any time. I tend to oversize my caps
all the time.
