heya all;

When you goto install windows XP on a SATA drive, during the initial moments of setup, do you need to use the "press F-8 to install 3rd party drivers for raid or scsi" Option in order for XP to be able to see the SATA Drive on setup, so that you can install the OS on that drive, and if so where would i go about getting this driver for a Asus p4g8x deluxe, i cant find support for it on Asus site anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

Here's the driver you need:

<A HREF="http://www.asus.com/support/download/selectftp.aspx?l1_id=1&l2_id=15&l3_id=17&m_id=2&f_name=silicon_v10022.zip~zaqwedc" target="_new"><b>Silicon Image Serial ATA driver version V1.0.0.22 and Utility V1.0.0.12</b></A>

Other drivers can be found on this <A HREF="http://www.asus.com/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4G8X Deluxe" target="_new"><b>page</b></A>, including the ICH4 USB 2.0 Driver for Windows XP.

Normally, you install the driver by typing F6 during the initial part of the operating system installation ... not F8.

Heya Toejam31;

I dont know why but for some reason i had it in my head that it would be a driver small enough to fit on a floppy, so apparently i have to either burn it to a CD or just use the drivers that came on CD with the board, also i was thinking that it was some sort of "Special" driver which apparently it isnt heh

Thanks for your time.
