Thanks to everyone who helped me with my daughters' Dell laptop's screen; it works just fine now!
This time, it's my son's HP Pavilion dv9500 laptop; somehow (probably horsing around with friends), the cover looks like it was pushed open past the max opening point and the hinge assembly that is part of the plastic cover broke. I can see where the pivot points are still attached to the base and can also see where the broken plastic is still connected to the cover.
Long story short, it looks as though I need a new cover in its entirety; is such an assembly available and if so, is it even worth repairing? He still uses the laptop by bracing the cover against a wall and except for the broken hinge points and a couple of keys that are missing, it works fine.
Any input is greatly appreciated!
