I am trying to connect my 9800pro to my new 16:9 hdtv monitor....well it work but the damn thing wont dispay on hdtv....i always get two gray bands on the side(4:3 res) . IS there a way to tell my 9800pro to do 16:9 signal?????

BTW i dont use CCC

Try using the DVI cable with the resolution set at 1280x720.

Too bad for me ... i have no DVI cable, i need to go buy one.
I was using the s-video.

S-Video doesn't provide HDTV resolution. DVI does, as well as Component video. Now, DVI isn't supposed to work from a PC to a TV according to manufacturers, but it does. The main concern is that the DVI output is running at true DVI refresh for your TV standard (60Hz in the U.S.), and that you don't try to stretch the screen too far.

My card offers 1280x720 resolution (same as HDTV-720p), but that might be because I have Rage3d Tweak installed (unlocks special resolutions).
