VAIO laptop shuts down and does not detect power

I have a VAIO laptop VPCEA45FG. Its just over a year old. for the past week my laptop sometimes does not switch on even though i connect both battery and power. sometimes it switches on but again shuts down after some time and again does not switch on.
what is the problem and can it be fixed?

From your description, it could be faulty power unit which explains the random shutdown issues. Authorized service provider should be able to fix it albeit with certain fee which usually includes workmanship and replaced component(s) (if any).
