Though, most of you will hate linux - specially due to lack of games, but heres an article from Anandtech (another thing people dont like) about benchmarking on LINUX hardware.

Good to see other platforms are coming along, though still far away from the goal that windows has reached. They also have on page 2 "Why Average Frames Per Second Can Be Misleading."

Also ATI are now looking towards the Linux side too.

In that same article ATI claims a lot of stuff, including a 22% boost in Doom3 performance with AI Catalyst.

The thing I found funny about Anandtech's new benching strategy is that it's pretty much exactly what [H] has been doing for the last year or more.

When I read there article I thought, well it's about time Dinga-lings!

Still it's funny how they talk about linux, but the crux of the article is about the FPS differences. It's like an ad for 'the upcoming benchmarks', but once you read it it's about testing methods.

It won't change my scepticism about their reviews (it's more about being selective than min/avg/max fps), but maybe they're beginning to see that they need to do something to be more credible than simply posting the AVG FPS for 2-3 settings in hand picked games, and often those settings don't even remain consistent (1280x1024 + 2XAA/8XAF for this game then 1600x1200 no AA/AF and 1024x768 4AA/8AF).

Linux may be the future, but really I was far more interested at the early stages. Driver issues (not just graphics), software, and support issues have really hampered it's use out of business applications. Hopefully there will be some progress to kick-start Linux again, because while I used to include it as 3gb partition of my 10gb HD because I was an early adopter/supporter, now I find it not worth even 1-2gb on my 80gb cause I can use that space more effectively.

Uh, why are they making such an app for Linux, focusing on it, than Windows?
Or did Anandtech already have one for Windows? (in which case their enthusiasm makes it look like it's something new to either).

It seems to not make sense to me. And I too see nothing regarding Linux performance really. It's mostly about a benchmarking method.
