I just bought a 6800 GT and put it in my system. I ran aquamark and without making any adjustments score a 60,000 on the test. Could you guys tell me some steps in overclocking the video card so I don't mess things up? I want to try to push the score over 70k. Thanks.

You sound alot like me. I've been trying to push my new card with little success. That Redline program isn't as easy as it seems.

The 6800gt has alot more overclocking headroom then your x800xt.

Watch out for the <b><font color=red>bloody</font color=red></b> Fanboys!

As I sit up in my bed looking at all the stars, I begin to wonder... WHERE THE HECK IS MY ROOF!?

Get riva tuner or a similar program. Then start pushing the Mhz up. Like 10 by step. When it gets artifacts in benchmarks like 3d mark 2003, aquamark, stop and put the Mhz on the last configuration that worked. If you have a termal sensor always check for temps. I do this with all my cards and got no problems. But if you have a 6800Gt why OC? You can play everything max so why bother? OC takes time to the life of the card...

I don't plan on overclocking it permenately, just to see how high the score can go. I might leave it clocked to what an Ultra is at, but that would be it.

I should be able to clock my card to 555/600 though based on other results.

Ya you should be able to squeeze some more juice from that system, I scored a 68,000 without much overclocking with my setup.

Agreed I think the RAM is causing errors not the card now. Crasing on things like Explorer aren't video card related. Gonna do a mem test.

What the the 6800's clock up to anyway? How far did you push yours? I'm interested in a second system with maybe a 6800UE.

Why do you want to OC your card just to get higher Aquamarks??? That's just stupid. Recently some guy here fried a brand-new 9800 Pro (1 wk. old) because he did the 9800XT BIOS flash. You should only OC your card when you are unhappy with the performance in certain games at high settings. Judging by your system specs you should already be getting ridiculous performance.
