Tech: Frogger Sound issues (and some color issues too)

Hi! I have a Frogger w/ the AC type board (the one that just says Sega, not
Sega/Gremlin) that has a strange sound problem. You get the coin up sound,
and the music starts playing...but soon after you start hopping, the music
freezes in tone, and then stops completely. Occassionally you'll get a
sound effect (death, or cars)...but it's mostly silent after that point.

I don't know if it's related, but sometimes the colors will start to tear
into a mostly reddish/pinkish pallate...it eventually goes back to normal.

Other than these things, it plays just fine.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Greg

PS - BTW - does anyone know if the pinouts for the 22/44 version of Frogger
floating around out there (eldorado, coinop.org) are correct? The way my
edge connector is wired seems different...there are way more wires - and
even a diode connected from pin 5 to pin G.

Hi,

Check your voltages you may be on the edge. Also try pressing down
on all of your socketed chips. I pull the board place it on a static
free towel on a table and press down on each chip. You may have to
remove them and receed them.

Good Luck

OK - I fixed the sound problem! I was taking out the chips to clean and
reseat - and one had bent pins all over (EPR-1035) !!!! Bent em back,
reseated, and all the sound is great now! I'm still getting the
occasional color glitch (got a new one - all the characters turned to white
silhouettes, and most of the screen turned red)....I'll keep reseating chips
to see if that'll make it stop.

Oh - how do you go about checking the voltages on a board like the early
Frogger (w/ the power on board rather than on a seperate power supply)?
