Found my games listed in newspaper!

I was wondering if this ever happened to anyone here. I was looking
through the newspaper today, something I rarely do these days;
especially the classifieds. So, I start looking through the
collectibles section and see Star Wars Arcade game for sale, and Star
Wars ROTJ cockpit, then MY phone #. A quick call to the wife revealed
that she was ready for me to get them out of the house! At least she
put a high price on them. I've got plenty of room for them, but in all
reality, I don't play them anymore and would like to get something
different. Well, anyone experience this before?

You should put an ad in the singles section with her name and phone #!

Sounds like you have a bigger problem than the game listing if your
communication with your wife is that poor.
No fun. --dan

My wife and I have a mutual agreement about arcade machines. I can buy
as many as I want and fill up the basement till you can't move if so
desired.... but it can't drift outside the basement... like living room
or kitchen. Also no Junkyard outside in the yard. In return she can buy
as many shoes as she wants. :)

I think it's fair.

Yeah I'm sorry. The wife tolerates the arcade in the garage, but it was
one of those things I told her when we got married. You can paint the
walls a fruity color. You can replace the sheets with something that
actually matches. You can rearrange the furniture, whatever is fine.
But the arcade games and the TV you don't touch. All these rooms are
your except the Arcade and the TV, attempt to meddling there.. use them
together, use them in peace.

Anyway back to the original, hell yeah something like that would
trigger WWIII at my place.

I agree with Lloyd and feel that this is probably just the beginning of
a series of events to follow. I don't mean to be nosey but are you
telling us the whole story? It sounds like there is a lot of
miscommunication in your marriage which is always a bad sign.

I would have beat my wife down for doing that without asking me first. Are
you divorced.?.Is that why she would do something like that without telling
you first.Or are you just Pussy whipped.?.

While she is liquidating YOUR assets, anything else going on you should know
about. Sounds like she is getting rid of you, sooner or later. I'd be talking
to an attorney and getting assets in my name now. LTG :)

We have the same agreement. Basement only. When my wife asked for us to
put in a "great room" addition, I said only if I could put in one game and
she said yes. Little did I know that I would also get another 550 sq feet
of basement. Now for the one game.....I'm thinking Prop Cycle Deluxe.

not necessarily a marriage counselor needed or lost of respect.
sometimes certain "wives" or better halfs think basically what they say
goes period. or they want to have the upper hand to make things "their
way" and dont know how to compromise.
and they treat everyone in life as that (not just the hubby its not an
individual respect thing or anything marriage counseling can help.) its
just the way that person is to everyone (friends/family/people she dont
know, etc) (i am speaking from experience).

No problems between us, and we have talked about getting rid of
them...for something different(less bulky than the cockpit). I've been
trying to sell to one of the two guys going for the record score, but
hadn't really been motivated as the games don't bother me sitting
there; they do bother her. I've spent more time cleaning those games
in the past year than playing them. I wasn't expecting them to be
listed; she put my cell # in the add and $1500 each, so she has been
listening to me a little about what I'd like to get(pretty unrealistic
here, but w/ new movie out, maybe someone will bite?). No sale could
happen w/out my approval, since they'd have to call me to get info...if
they call willing to pay that, I'm all about it, but if not, guess I
was right about why not to sell--too many sellers vs buyers currently.
I could buy another SW for less anyway.

Looking for Frontline, Two Tigers, Firefox others? If one/both sell
that is.

I probably forgot to mention the Major havoc (tem con) in need of cap
kit(started small fire once)) that she put to the curb about 10years
ago; so I guess I'm luckier this time. Someone mentioned 'my'
property, but we've been together so long, I never think in terms of
mine/hers, but ours. She's not in the wrong for listing them for me,
but I didn't realize it would be so soon. It was just funny seeing my
# while reading something I don't usually read but 6/7 times a year.
Still no calls though.

I hate to say it but you really need marriage counseling.

My wife would never sell my posessions on me, nor I on her.. we respect each
other to much to do so. The fact that your wife would be willing to do that
implies that she has lost respect for you. A marriage can simply not last
once one party has lost respect for the other. You really should seek
help... either from a counselor or lawyer (the OTHER counselor).

good luck

Sorry, no.

When I was getting started collecting games, and asked my wife if I could
buy a non-working Tempest, she told me only if I bought her a Centipede.

Our only arguments now are over whois going hold down the Pole Position gas
pedal for the kids while the other one plays.

This is a symptom of a larger problem that you need to treat before it
becomes an expensive (or more expensive) one.

The flip (and more than a bit stereotypical) answer is to do the same with
her jewelry and her shoe collection and then ask her how she feels about
tactics like that now.

The more realistic answer is to address the serious lack of communication
in your marriage, possibly by counseling or, in extremis, by divorce. You
have a wife you manifestly cannot trust and that is a *HUGE* problem.

I have a small seat on the floor infront of the main seat for my 3yr old to
