I got a Geforce 4600 that has a broken hsf and wonder what would be good replacement for this. I will probably not overclock it, so I am looking for something cheap that will keep the chip from frying.
So what is a good cheap solution for this card?

A good cheap exuivalent to a Ti4600 (probably better in most newer games actually) would be a Radeon 9600XT. About $130 nowadays.

Almost as good would be a Radeon 9600 PRO for about $110.

Did I miss read this? I thought you just needed a new heatsink?

That is a good replacement heatsink, and will allow you to overclock, if you ever change your mind.

There are some other generic heatsinks, that you could get rig on, but the Ti4600 is still a good enough card to justify a $20 heatsink.

Thanks, that seems about right. I reread my post and could see that I could have been clearer. This is actually the second 4600 I get for free because the HS cracked (both MSI). These cards must be running insanely hot, but I'm not complaining :)
I have a 9800 Pro in my main gaming box, and this car will go in one of my Linux boxen. Maybe a little overkill for my old tually 1GHz though...
