Can a 6800 be flashed to 6800gt

Hey guys i have a leadtek a400 tdh 6800 as we know it only has 12 pipe lines so i was wondering if i could flash it to a 6800 GT's bios to unlock the other 4 pipe lines

Flashing your 6800 wouldn't be a good ideal. Why possibly ruin a $300 card? Theres no point in that.

Anyways, to unlock the last 4 pipelines, if possible, you can use RivaTuner. Most cards won't be able unlock the last 4 pipes, my eVGA 6800 can't. Some MSI's can, not sure about LeadTek.

Also you can overclock with RivaTuner, and if all goes well, you can set it to make these changes on boot-up.

This meaning you can expierment with all this stuff, with virtually no risk on destroying you brand new card.

If you flash BIOS and it does not work, can you not just flash it back to original BIOS?

Sometimes, yes, sometimes no. (Just depends how wrong the flash goes)

Since it isn't 100% I would be hesitant to do it to a nice piece of hardware.

RivaTuner, would be the "risk free" method of trying this first.

It will never be as good because the GT has twice the video memory, if it even worked to begin with. Doesn't really sound like it's worth it.

Remember that the 6800 also has a different number of disabled Vertex Engines as well. So you have to make sure those can be enabled too.

I know Unwinder (maker of Rivatuner) was looking into the possibility of soft modding, but I hadn't heard of any success.
