While its very cool to finally see a mod for the 6800, and I'll probably review it a few more times, I'm not exactly jumping at the chance to solder on my new $300 card. (Still debating on it, but there seems to be some people having problems with it down lower in the message forum on that site.)

yeah, give it some time for sure.. wouldn't exactly want to f*ck up my 400$ card either .. just yet anyways :D

my 9700 was bios-volt-modded into a pro and clocked way beyond that, and it only lasted for a year :( funny thing is.. it didn't die while installed in the pc

He says you cant do it on the 6800 GT, then he talks about modifying the 6800 GT, Did he get it modified to ultra status anyway?

I am pretty sure he got all the cards modified into ultras, well; expect the ultra of course :D

he had great success with the Asus, no? They used the ultra-PCB layout on the V9999GE which makes it a perfect candidate.

but seriously.. a 6800LE into an Ultra Deluxe is just f**king nutz!

I have a friend who works at a enginering shop in Wood Hole, Cape cod. They do all kinds of custom electronic work for deep sea instruments etc. If I can find more information on this with the 6800 GT specificly, I have no problem with taking the plans and the cards to them and having them do it up =D

I would let a few more people try this before you start soldering on your own card, there are still some people having problems getting this to work, in the forum at that site.

Well guys, I spent the better part of my day reading this stuff you have mentioned AND most of the information I found in the links presented here. I have a Leadtek A400. A stock-standard 6800. While I became very excited by what I read, I am understandably loath to solder anything on my new card. I did, however, stumble upon something in my research yesterday that seems to have had quite an effect on my card's performance. I read about RivaTuner v2 RC 15.2. This software seems to be able to give access to the 4 disabled pipes as well as the disabled shader. You don't believe? My 3dmark '03 score has improved by more than 1000 3D Marks WITH NO OVERCLOCKING and NO DISTORTION OF IMAGES WHATSOEVER!! Even with the new 3d Mark '05, there has been an 800 mark improvement ALSO WITH NO OVERCLOCKING. Give it a try and let me know. It certainly is a lot safer than soldering anything onto the board, and it is easily reversable.

what the?!

Well, that´s cool; i am happy for you :p

But, you see - most people had no success on the rivatuner unlock alone, I can´t actually recall anyone that did. It should be a worth a lot more with a GT biosupdate, but beware of committing that irreversible act on your card.

(and it was I who spoke of soldering :D)

anyways, game on!
