Hi there
i've been looking at the asus webpage and i see 5 different models
2 of them being ultra, 1 gt and 2 others vanilla card
i'm confused about 1 thing. 1 of the vanilla cards called gamers edition but has 1 GHz (500MHz DDR)memory clock whereas a normal one has 700 MHz(350MHz DDR).

and the gt one also has 700mhz.
<A HREF="http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=V9999GE&langs=01" target="_new">Gamers Edition 256mb</A>
<A HREF="http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=V9999/TD&langs=01" target="_new">vanilla 128mb</A>
<A HREF="http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=V9999GT/TD&langs=01" target="_new">GT 128mb</A>

so is GT better then gamers edition?? or is it just an overclocked and 256mb version over vanilla??
which one should I get? (i'm not getting an ultra!)

also if i buy the gt one and oc it to 1.0ghz or 1.1ghz would the stock fan be enough?

Thanks<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by XtremeMaC on 10/03/04 02:48 PM.</EM></FONT></P>

GT but it's quite odd I just got a 6800GT 256mb card from Asus yet I dont see it on their site. If you do try to get that 256mb version, it's always nice for the newer games.

As per the overclock I dont know I have a water cooling kit on my video card and my overclocks will be quite differnt from air ones. Guess you wait till someone else posts or just jump in.

The GT is faster than the Gamers edition, since it has 16 pixelpipelines where as the Gamers only have 12. The gamers edit. "can" be overclocked to nearly GT performance,l but generally the pricedifference does not even justify the existence of that revamped 6800NU

Well there is a few.

I posted this a little while back, it's still not on their english site, but it is one of the few reviews of the cards out there;

Not sure I just went to my retailer and said hey want a Asus 6800 GT, he said how about a 256mb one for 80 more than the 128, I said sure.

Got it now I no its not the 6800 gamer edition one so says the box just a 6800 GT 256mb.

hmm thanks i mean its very ON topic, well anyways let me continue that discussing, it seems ppl like systran more than asus geforce stuff.
babelfish uses systran engine and its free(yes if u want to purchase it and use every capability of it u've to pay), and there are many other pages that can translate russian to english. so its free i've read the article (thanks btw)
but that doesn't really answer my question, yes the oc'ed gamers edition seems to be the top choice.(often better than ultra at same clock (wierd)) but i wanted to make a comparison between 12-16 pipelines, so i wanted to compare a possibly oc'ed gamers edition to oc'ed gt edition

well i dunno its getting confusing everyday.
now i seek the option of buying winfast since its gt is 256mb but knowing that i'm going to oc it i can't rely on winfask leadtek ....
I've to buy quick or else i'm going to go mad!

Actually that it's 12 pipe versus 16 pipe.

The GT and Ultra are 16 pipe, and the gamer's edition in the review is the GF6800 which is 12 pipe they overclock it and underclock it. That's why I posted it.

Unfortunately they don't compare it to other oc'ed cards, but sofar it's one of the few gamer's edition card reviews I've seen for the GF6800 series.
