Ich made some quick tests in 3D Mark 05 with a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB and a 256MB model. ATI's claims, that 8.07 fixes a memory bug for all cards with 256MB is correct:

Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB:
Cat 4.9: 2337
8.07 HF: 2389

Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB:
Cat 4.9: 2408
8.07 HF: 2719

Har Har Har, wonder why those drivers are 2x the size of Nvidia?

Sweet! Can we expect a mini-review in the next card review or elsewhere?

It would be interesting to see if there's any impact on an R9600 128mb and 256mb version or even FX5200/R9200 level card to see if there's even a difference in the mid-low end cards which alot of us doubted before based on the poor performance of even the high end cards due to this bug.

Guess it just takes more to make a WHQL certified driver, wonder when nV will offer one, perhaps 2005?

Maybe just maybe or perhaps in the next month or so pre Half Life 2 I would have to think.

But you know I run WHQL drivers for my GT and they just dont seem to be as large. Go figure ATI's AI software must really be large.

Ich?.....you mean Ichneumon? > Eric? > the Rage3d Admin?

When did he find time to play with video cards again?

I think Ich = 'I' in this case.

Borsti's hyper-threaded brain had a hiccup.

Very interesting stuff though. Didn't ever expect that 256MB was being locked behind because of bugs (especially considering nVidia also has not much to give back with 256MB versions of their mid-range cards. And wasn't the FX5950 256MB too?), let alone give such a nice boost for the R9800PRO. Think of the XT!

Also, from what I can tell, this is a fix aside the AI, so would that mean extra performance over AI?
It'd sure be interesting.

Damn, you sure can miss a crapload when away for 2 days.
